Put simply, was hard for everyone. 2020 was just the appetiser. Last year was grueling for all sorts of reasons, but most of it boiled down to Covid creating a huge backlog that didn't really go anywhere. Waiting lists swelled and ours has once again closed. Tests are still hard to come by and if you're lucky enough to find one, the wait is 5 to 6 months. It didn't help that the DVSA decided to close Brislington test centre down, so the entire city is now down to 2 test centres. We had 4 not too long ago! It being a difficult time to learn how to drive is a massive understatement.
However, we did what we could and landed up with dozens of happy students passing across the whole of Bristol.
If you're looking to learn how to drive in Bristol with a manual transmission, our waiting list has 100 people on it. This is going to take 6 months plus to really chip away at. If you desperately need to get on the road in a manual, an intensive driving course might be the swiftest option. The wait wont be so long. You'll need the assistance of Richard Miller, our resident intensive course specialist. Click here for more details.
The wait for
automatic driving lessons however is significantly smaller seeing as we now have twice the number of automatic driving instructors in Bristol now at the school.
We saw quite a few changes this year in terms of driving instructors switching vehicles. I traded in my little Fiat 500 for a huge Renault Captur in the summer. Due to many, many technical problems, it had to go and was replaced with the electric Zoe. Switching to automatic driving lessons so far has been a big success with plenty of happy students learning at an accelerated rate and passing first time. I must be one of (if not) the first driving instructors to offer electric driving lessons in Bristol.
Paul Hanley went slightly larger too. Switching his Citroen DS3 out for a very fancy white and red topped Citreon C3.
We managed to almost collect another 50 reviews online from happy passing students over the year, despite being locked down for some of it. Mostly glowing 5 star testimonials on both Google (149) and FreeIndex (373).
Here's my last one of the year, squeezed in on December 28th.
"I had a fantastic experience with A Class Driving school. William is an amazing instructor who show me all my mistakes and being focused on my driving. I had not more than 6 lessons and i passed my driving test from the first time. Want to say big thanks to William."

Here's a few of the passing students we've had over the past 12 months.
You can but cross everything. Surely 2022 can't be as bad for learners as the last one. Hopefully the DVSA will find a way to reduce waiting times for tests and perhaps even open up another test centre. We're still looking for more driving instructors to join the team and help hack away at the waiting list.
