As 2022 draws to a close it's a good time to have a little look back at the year and reflect on all that's happened at A-Class Driving School. We've had dozens of passes, despite the backlog and difficulties in obtaining a driving test in Bristol. It looks like things are beginning to pick up, with more test dates being released and the governments, supposed clamp down on bots an rouge businesses acquiring test illegally. Just this morning I had my final test of the year and Aaron (below) passed first time with just 1 minor, a fantastic achievement.
I switched to an electric vehicle this year and teaching automatic has been very rewarding. Which made August all the more painful when a van rear ended my car and wrote it off. The insurance company has been awful, but have managed to get back on the road in another Renault Zoe teaching automatic once more.
If you're looking to learn how to drive in Bristol we can potentially add you to our waiting list, however, they are starting to look pretty long once again. Your best bet of getting a manual licence is by taking an intensive course with Richard Miller, our resident intensive course specialists, who is taking bookings for January 2023 onwards. Click here for more details.
The wait for automatic driving lessons is shorter as we now have twice the number of automatic driving instructors in Bristol now at the school. Automatic lessons will also be available for the first time in the Kingswood test centre part of Bristol from mid February onwards.
We also may be expanding with a new instructor joining the team in the coming months. So there will be more coverage for the Kingswood test centre area for manual driving lessons.
With over 50+ passes this year, we think we've done a good job. Some have been kind enough to leave reviews for us on both Google and FreeIndex.
Here's a few of the highlights.
"Will was a fantastic driving instructor. I needed refresher lessons having not been on the road for 10+ years. I was anxious about driving again as previously I had hated it but Will was patient and very knowledgeable and clear with his instructions. I genuinely didn't think I was going to enjoy it or feel happy driving by myself, but it has been a couple of months since I finished my refresher lessons and I am confidently driving daily and haven't looked back!" Phoebe Clark
"Paul was an absolutely fantastic driving instructor. As someone who had had bad experiences in the past, Paul was a breath of fresh air and helped me get where I needed to be to pass the test. He was calm, measured and gave great constructive advice throughout all my lessons. He didn't just teach me to pass the test but also to be a good driver as well and I don't think I could have gotten to where I am without him. I honestly couldn't recommend him or A-Class Driving School enough." Sean Wilkinson
"I had Jim as an instructor. He was incredibly patient and kind. Always arrived early to appointments and very organised. Has a very methodical way of teaching and vast experience! Would highly recommend and helped me pass first time. Jim has been an amazing instructor. Thank you!" Jennie Phillips

Hopefully the DVSA will reduce waiting times further, allowing more tests and for us to get even more passes. Who knows, perhaps they'll even open a new test centre. We're still looking for more driving instructors to join us and tackle to the ever growing waiting lists.
